You mean the one still in plain site in the REVIEWS forum?

But I had a couple of questions, which is probably somewhat sadistic since you are Star Ocean deprived at the moment. Have you earned a single battle trophy? I am just wondering if I fucked something up by saving to two separate mem cards because I have yet to earn a single one, and I know I've met plenty of their conditions, at least according to my strategy guide. I'm playing on the standard difficulty.
I have no idea. You should have some, as some are ridiculously easy to obtain (win battle in under 30 seconds). What I want to know is why the fuck saving them takes up an entire megabyte on my memory card for what is essentially 300 yes/no bits of data for 300 trophies. Seriously, I do.
Speaking of which, how the fuck do you play this without a strategy guide? How do you find the inventors and fulfil their gay little demands? How do you know what you are inventing? Do they really expect you to experiment with all the hundreds of possible inventions, and write them all down? What the fuck?
I think there were only like 3 intentors that I couldn't recruit on my own. They most commonly demand money, and the ones that need an item usually hint at it, or the item gives you a hint (golden currey that says to "feed to someone who is always hungry" to the chick who always complains she is hungry, etc.). Or at every junction of the game just run aound towns talking to everyone I guess and hope you hit an inventor with the right item.
Yeah figuring out inventing on your own with only the manual to go by is a bit difficult. They could have solved almost everything by letting you know that the higher the random cost, the more valuable of an item you could invent. I used to just keep hitting the button until I got a negligable cost, then wondered why I kept inventing crap. Once you figure that out you really don't need a guide that much. I'm probably fucking myself over for the SUPER ULTIMATE WEAPONS that you can only get by refining certain items just right (like that eternal sphere I never fucking got in SO2), but fuck if I'm going to be beating all the bonus stuff.
Also, who puts the escape button right next to the spell key? One minute, I am nuking the shit out of the 80th group of medium challenge bad guys, and next thing I know I'll be running away like a bitch, watching my battle gauge crumble.
80? I think my record with the bonus gauge is like 8. Congrats.
You just got Albel? I predict around 10 more hours of primative planet (the events on which have NOTHING to do with the main plot at all) tedium.
I finally got past disc 1 (just skipped all the cutscenes that were locking up then looked up the script online). Every review I've read mentioned that you'd groan at the plot twist. I didn't believe them. I figured by the time I got off the primative planet that I'd be so grateful that no twist could be outrageous enough to annoy me.
I was wrong.
Once the nature of the real villains is revealed it is pretty fucking groan inducing. It turned what should have been an awesome cutscene into me rolling my eyeballs at the characters' comments of the villains. I WON'T SPOIL THE SUPRISE, but I will say that after ripping the "hidden power that only surfaces you get pissed off at INJUSTICE" from DragonballZ (which you should have seen coming from hour 1 anyways), they go and rip off the villains directly from another undeservedly popular anime.
I was also wrong about the music not being bad. The worst I had run into at that point was the eternally improvising electric guitar solo dungeon theme, which is a complete mess of a piece that tolerable for 5 minutes and you end up listening to for an hour as it drives you up the fucking wall. There is also a piano piece that's supposed to be touching but again the guy tries to go crazy on an improved part and again it's a complete mess that tears you out of the oh so tearful moment. I can remember plenty of RPG's with completely mediocre and forgettable music, but can't recall one that had tracks that were flat out bad. I still say the overall score is so-so, since there are one or two good songs to balance it out, which is still a shame since SO2 had one of the best non-square soundtracks. |
