It seems the "cannot locate or authenticate original disc" error is some strongarm copy protection that kicks in if you have ANY trace of alcohol 120% or daemon tools on your system (even just the registry). Disabling virtual drives will not work, you must uninstall and remove. Then there's the fact that the automatic patching from winter assault to update your original DoW copy to 1.4 is buggy. You have to manually install from 1.0 to 1.1 to 1.2 to 1.3 to 1.4, making sure to close out between each patch. But here's my personal favorite "fix" OK for those that haven't read and tried the sticky thread for manually installing WA simply rename the original files to include - and _ Note to make the second copy you may have to copy and paste into a new folder and rename then copy and paste back into the correct folder. Holy shit. This is Battlefield browser brokeness. PC gaming was fun while it lasted. |
