Bad RAM or bad board (slots) then. I have two 3200LLPT x 512 Corsairs and 2 x OCZ 2-2-2's and have no issues at all. Even hyper-aggressive BIOS timings haven't shaken the stability.

I ran memtest on the previous setup and it didn't throw any errors. The odd thing was that when I had all 4 dimms in, it would auto-detect at 333. Manually setting it to 400 worked (I thought) fine, so I went along with that.

Are those dimms double-sided? A historical prob of the athlons was that 4x double-sided would drop your speed down to 333, though this should have been fixed in the X2 cores.

I don't know if my dimms are double-sided. I never heard about that athlon issue, either - From a K6 I switched back to Intel and only recently switched back to AMD with a venice-core 3500+. I would have thought that if your dimms are reading 333 that it's PC2700 ram and the SPD on the dimms are reporting the 333 to the bios. If you didn't manually set the new dimms at 400 then that's your issue - you had a stick or two of PC2700 ram that you were inadvertently overclocking to 400, causing the instability.
