We hear you, man.
Also this:
Sanitario666: Ugh, my Oink ratio is sinking like a stone. Next time you see a torrent with seed possibilities, link me to that.
Sanitario666: I guess I should just hit something on page 1.
Ray of Light: it's brutal, I'm living totally on past uploads.
Sanitario666: This is like betting on sports.
Ray of Light: you pretty much have to upload something every now and then
Sanitario666: Which one of these torrent is a winner?
Ray of Light: pick wrong, you're deeper in the hole
Sanitario666: Ahhh, I picked Carcass and I already have the CD even!
Sanitario666: This is going all wrong!
Sanitario666: Ok, I'm going with the Emililililili Torininini album.
Sanitario666: 2005, so it's new. And people want it, maybe.
Sanitario666: I can't imagine being at a point in my life where uploading 15 Gigs is still not good enough.
Sanitario666: But here we are.
Ray found on Oink:
Since we catch so many people trying to fake their ratio on a daily basis and there has been publicity lately in a method which works on other sites, we'd like to give you a prior warning that we have a zero tolerance policy here with regard to using them.
If (when) you are caught cheating, you will never be welcome on this site ever again.
No method for faking your ratio will work here, our custom written tracker will catch you instantly.
Sanitario666: A bluff, needless to say.
Ray of Light: yeah, "we're only taking the time to say this because we're fucking ehausted from catching people instantly!"
Sanitario666: It hurts them so much, the instant catching. Punishing their users, whom they love like children.
Ray of Light: they're not mad so much as disappointed
Sanitario666: This all reminds me to check my PS2 torrent site.
Sanitario666: Where I make a new account every month to refresh a 1.0 ratio.
Ray of Light: I remain a fan of the demonoid system, where you tell the user what his ratio is, and accept donations to boost it to 1.0, but don't actually bother to track how much he transfers
Ray of Light: those who care can still do something, but it's totally voluntary.
THE NEXT DAY...
Sanitario666: Emilimiini Torrini: 0.91 !!!
Sanitario666: Just me and another seed left.
Ray of Light: aweomse!!!!
Sanitario666: If I can knock him off the torrent, all uploading could be mine!!!!!!!!!
Ray of Light: I don't understand
Ray of Light: this is something you're downloading
Ray of Light: ?
Sanitario666: Remember when I was gambling on a ratio-improving download?
Ray of Light: oh yeah
Ray of Light: so it's paid off
Sanitario666: Almost.
Ray of Light: I'm imprssed. I have 30 or so seeding now and total combined up speed is like 2kb/s
Sanitario666: Yeah, mine is at 0
Sanitario666: But I figure if I start tracking the torrents, compile it all in Excel or some datamining software, I could learn to pick the winners.
