i'm back but i can only talk (or think) about the new Rumble Roses game for the 360. i'll fill you in on the exciting adventures i've been on during our time apart some other time. i'm also guessing you didn't say that because he and i are both super cool guys, it was a deadly put down suhlam that i'm already crying over. is he a creexul level poster or something? 1UP: I'm glad I can provide a forum for you to defend your actions. So are you using this remake to help expand the storyline or extend it perhaps?

Akari Uchida: If you were to draw a timeline, we're starting from the same point, as this is a remake. And the thing is, unfortunately, we're not having a storyline this time, so it's gone. The U.S. press just hammered the story mode so bad [Everyone laughs], I was like "OK, fine, we're gonna take it out."

Jesus. And all this time i thought gaming journalism only existed for me to sneer at, it turns out they play an important role. Forcing the nips to de-gay their games into something more playable. This explains why the Metal Gear guy keeps trying to out horrible himself with every new game, according to the press, his storylines are too innovative and brilliant to change.

AU: if you're fighting a baby-faced character, and you use one of the foreign objects, like a tickling stick or something with feathers at the end, if you keep on using that, the baby-faced character will start to get upset. And we're really trying to express the emotional aspect of these characters. You'll see a lot of it during tag matches.

Tickle stick. Also, i like how it doesn't matter what weapon they pull out, you can bet that it's going to be covered in feathers.

AU: I think we've put so much effort into the human drama, I think that many people won't even go online, since it's so much fun offline.

1UP: Will there be incentive to go online, like special items you can only get if you play online? Or will there be rankings so people can tell you're a bad-ass because you've won 183 matches or something?

the interviewer and the designer decided it would be fun to switch places for a moment, with one cutting through the bullshit and calling online play useless and the other desparately trying to hype it.

AU: We're thinking of this swimsuit that's made of flowers, like real flowers, not made of cloth, but real flowers. And also like clams...

Another thing i love about Akari Uchida - he makes it a point to ensure the interviewer knows he's being called a retard by pointing out how real the flowers are four times in one sentance. HERE'S A PICTURE, THE ONE WITH ALL THE PETALS? THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT

GameInformer: Well I have to ask. I know last time you were considering nudity. Were you thinking about that for this version? (laughs)

Uchida: The thing is, when you think of erotic games or eroticism, you [depraved, American pigs] think “nude”. Japanese eroticism isn’t about stripping, its [SNIFF] more subtle.

His patriotism tarnished, the GI guy steers the conversation towards the minefield that is Japanese eroticism.

GI: With what we saw in the trailer, the character wearing the thing and all that, does that ever make you nervous as a developer? America and Japan are very different. Does that make you nervous to make it more risqué?

Uchida: Yes, the game does feature sexy babes, but it’s a peaceful game. There’s no blood, no force, no rape. Its just sexy girls wrestling. I’m sure there will be people that will get angry. But we just want people to relax so I am not that worried.

While lesser journalists would've followed up with, "Did you...did you just say rape?" GI grins in silent victory and wisely moves on. i'm not sure how many people are going to be angry when they don't see RAPE! in a bullet point on the back of the box anyways.

AU: I think one mistake we made in the U.S., is we marketed it too much in the porn direction, like it's a sexy game with babes and boobs, it was too much. The problem I guess when you have a very erotic game in the U.S., it's very low class, low quality. That's definitely not the case with our game, yes it is sexy but it has solid gameplay. We were not aware that if we pushed it in the erotic direction that people would perceive it as a cheap game.

i'd like to know what course of events led them to title their non-sexy tactical strategy thinking mans game Rumble Roses XX. "We'll knock off an 'X' so there's no confusion!"

1UP: It's sort of fascinating to try and figure out the reasons why for disparities like this.

AU: I think one thing is the tastes of hardcore gamers in Japan for girls, are like DOA-esque girls, who look like dolls with small faces. They don't necessarily go for real-looking women.

in other words DOA is for PEDOPHILES or FAGS.
