The $20 only gets you one "free" month. Game + 3 months is $30. You just reminded me of another reason I eventually quit: you're obliged to furiously play as much as you can to feel like you're getting your money's worth. I burned out juggling 3 games at a time after a month oe two. Marines are my least favorite race in the game. Technically they're the most diverse and adaptable, but the sheer amount of orders and calculating you must issue to them every turn made it feel like work. Fighting their hit & run sniping asses is also a pain. That reminds me of another subscription based game I burned myself out on trying to get my money's worth, Evernight.
