I always figured it was people who wanted to play online, but were too slow for shooters and couldn't "master" defending the rush in Starcraft. Instead of losing the first few games and getting better over time, they wanted to win RIGHT NOW and played TA, where they may not win, but the game lasts forever so it seems like they know what they're doing.

i bet the guy that recommended this to you is awful at RTS. My asshole cousin is beyond hope, 5 years of playing starcraft and he still only wants to compstomp. Same with war3, we play the occasional real game, he gets us slaughtered, then he logs off in a huff before i can tell him how much he sucks.

But for some reason he's great at TA, it's so strange
