Actually, they don't. If you follow it long enough, the price for various items goes up and down slowly. Buy low, sell high is the name of the game. There is some stuff that can be used as good gifts, like special medicines, but it's more profitable to out right sell it to them. You can even trade ore with the less than legal merchants. Sometimes you get better prices.


Is that it doesn't tell you what you originally paid for the items, so you have no idea if you're making a profit or not when you prices change an hour later, unless you either have a photographic memory or you write that shit down on paper.

Finally beat the third scenario thanks to lucking out and having all enemy asteroids drifting out of range for most of the game, giving me time to get a command cruiser and accompanying armada.
