Can I just burn a DVD-R with the HD Loader on it and use that? Do I need a mod chip, swap disk or a slide card thing? Help me internet friends!
To my understanding, you need only 1. the software and 2. a hard drive. That's A hard drive, not The (second rate, too small) official Sony HD. I believe Maxtor 120GB are highly recommended, and that 5400 rpms should be plenty to see a speed difference. I am IRC disabled at the moment, but I would be willing to bet that a similar mecca to the one created by Xbox modification has been created, with the minor difference that you will have to manually connect the PS2 hd to your computer, and then reconnect it to your PS2 to transfer games, rather than a direct FTP. If such a buzz has not been created (and it should included modified/improved versions of the HD loader all over the place) on the IRC, then I would be wary of the software. Anyone have any input on that? Your question on the DVDR leads me to believe you have already come across one of these.
As a general rule, Sony PS2's do not read homemade discs without a mod chip OR one of those nifty 10$ gameshark type thingies that play DVD's from all regions and such. So it's up to you. Personally, I would think buying the actual product would be well worth it, but I am not sure it would be without a home internet connection (as is my situation). |
