If your video game of choice is 256 colour scrolling shooters from decades past, then no, I'm not surprised that you dislike games like RtCW:ET. Keep pressing the fire button, and don't forget to collect that powerup.
You don't collect power ups and keep pressing the fire button in games like RtCW:ET?
No. That does happen in the pure deathmatch games though, in times of yore, to the disappointment of you.

Fundamentally it comes down to what game you define as recreation and if it relaxes you or not.
Wrong. A game does not have to relax you to be good.

I personally prefer SHMUPs for my action games. What? Did you expect these free games to have a story, NPCs, various dialogues, or to make you laugh and cry? The truth is that ET is just a pathetically lacking as Soldat or any of the games I linked. I just personally dislike it. In the manner of TFC and CS this just feels like a death match with window dressing.
Ok sure. RtCW:ET is merely TFC with incredibly good graphics, 6 great multiple-objective maps of complexity never seen in an FPS before, an experience system that spans maps, and other differences. Oh yeah, and it's free to download whereas TFC requires Half-Life. Similarly, all Shmups are just Gradius with window dressing. And sometimes not even Gradius.

No, if you dislike the game, then obviously that's it. Being free won't make it better. That was a clever trap you set for me.
However, you started out with a premise that Enemy Territory's price tag of FREE is no big deal, because not only are there countless games out there that are free, but you personally play nothing BUT free games that are better than RtCW:ET. I wanted to see what these fantastic games were. As a gamer to fellow gamer, I wanted you to let me in on your great video game stash. It turns out that you're playing shareware scrolling shooters. As suspected, you're an idiot. What's next, a link to Newgrounds.com? Well, did we uhm ... just forget HOTU? Are free games that fucking rare? If you really wanted to try UT2K4 (Or whatever they are naming the next) what stops you from just downloading it? Your personal belief system? Free games aren't a big deal. Good games are a big deal.
Ah, there we go. It's not that you're so pumped that you can download Abuse from HoTU, it's that you can download AAA games on IRC. Now we're finally done because you've admitted that free RtCW:ET is not a big deal because of piracy. Check it out, I even addressed this point in my original message, IN THE PAST:

No one seems to care that this is a free game that you download for free and it's free. In the age of everything being free on the internet anyway, gamers are like "Well, they didn't hand-delivery it to my house or anything so, it's not really a big deal."
I even left my typo intact. Anyway, it's really cool that RtCW:ET is a stand-alone, legitimately free game, and not just internet free. You and I both know that master server keys make playing pirated online FPSs a real downer. |
