Ape Escape 2: This game is great. I am having a little trouble adapting to the control scheme, but definitely some of the best autocamera in any 3d platformer. Plus it almost makes me feel as retarded as Klonoa 2, which is a big bonus, and is different enough from that game to be played at the same time with no conflict. UR REC=GOOD.
MGS1: Huh. This game is pretty outstanding. I miss a lot of the moves they added in MGS2, but I can see how the addition of the plot alone would have driven you to distraction. Alas, reissued copies apparently come with no manuals, so I guess it's VR training or nothing. UR REC=ALSO GOOD
Hmmm....I'm starting to think though. Since every plot event once you reached the oil rig was directly ripped from MGS1 that events and twists in the first game may not come as surprises if you played the sequel first. The whole "it's supposed to be a simulation of the events in the first game" really just translates to "we didnt feel like coming up with anything new". It was nice of them to include that spoileriffic movie montage giving away key plot events in the opening credits though. At least now you'll see how much more inferior the sequel is in terms of level design, musical score, boss fights, pacing, and plot (oh god the plot). Here's a decent deconstruction of MGS2's story. I liked his work on MGS1 better, but I wouldnt read it until you've beaten that game.
Began .hack part 2. Unfortunately failed to learn from pt 1 in discarding the accompanying dvd immediately. Please save yourself some eye-gougingly bad anime shit that only detracts from the game if you choose to give it a shot. If you did not like Dark Cloud 2 but liked a lot of bits of it, this might just be the game for you.
Okay, now how about a review for the people who didn't play Dark Cloud 2? |
