The United States did. I have less than zero faith, however, that China can do it too. What they lack in internal consistency they make up for in loud rhetoric and nationalistic dreaming. Nearly everything done there is half-assed and shoddy, and largely a facade. All the same though this is probably in the back of the minds of some as a compelling reason to get thee into space, tout suite. A single asteroid would provide China with more mineral wealth than has been extracted from the Earth to date. That's an awfully temping prize. |
