The NFL works -- unlike baseball -- because teams in podunk towns have as good a shot as those in cities not contained within fly over country and those not backed by multimillionaire madmen. When you cheat the cap it all of a sudden doesn't work, but what are the penalties for cheating it? The Niners lost a draft pick. The Steelers lost one as well. BFD, most fourth rounders aren't on the team in three years anyway. Who gives a shit? The NFL isn't doing shit to stop it because they think it's great that Steve Young got the monkey off his back or that John Elway got his title. But loser fans of continually-loser teams (like myself) who have owners that not only don't cheat the cap but leave eleven fucking million on the table care, and hate your teams. But there was a good chance we hated you already. So essentially, people who hate your teams already hate you a little more. And there's one less crappy draft pick you're going to have to worry about in your future. If you cheat the cap in any capacity you should get no first rounders for five years. But that will never happen because nobody cares. ICJ |
