What do you think will be the outcome of this, once the report is officially submitted and the recommendations made? Is there a way to prevent shit like this from hitting the shuttle? Will we keep flying these things until they fall apart one by one and kill three more crews? I would like to see the government pull the plug on manned spaceflight completely. That is, make NASA an administrative board to govern civilian spaceflight as it develops, like the FAA, and break off the fairly decent space exploration part of NASA into another agency or privatize it or something. Right now, we seem to have no plan and no goal. We have shitty equipment and the feeling that national pride requires us to be in space just to show that we can. I don't see what we're accomplishing for the risk that's involved. |
