I am in love with Handsome Western States, but I don't really like their more fully orchestrated, non-bedroom-recorded stuff. More pop recommendations:

Built on Squares by the Starlight Mints
The Joggers' self-titled debut
Power Ballads by Aqueduct

And if you're going to be depressed, the new Arab Strap record, Monday at the Hug and Pint, which nicely blends typical Arab Strap mopiness with more poppy songs that use a drum machine and sound like and Arab Strap dance party. Which is just about the coolest fucking thing ever.
