I bought a GBA for it 2 years ago. It is still the only game I own for it, I consider it a good purchase. It's like that old NES game Desert Commander, only done right and balanced (one or two of the CO's are too powerful, a few are too weak, that's about it).
Only problem is multiplayer against other humans doesn't work out too well. At the start it's a quick dash to secure cities and factories. Both players capture their half of the map and meet in the center, whoever then captures a few more after that will eventually win; you might as well not bother playing out the rest of the game (VERY rarely you might be able to land a surprise attack on their HQ to reverse this). Game is much better off trying to fight off the numerically superior AI.
As far as the sequel, I cant imagine what new units they could possibly add without upsetting the balance. Did they really even need new units? The light tanks and octopus things look....gay. I'm fearing a Myth II here: perfect balance in the first game but they HAD to add new units to the sequel and it ends up getting ruined. Also, why no all new CO's? Instead we get evil Bizzarro clones of existing ones? |
