NEVER EVER EVER EVER BUY GATEWAY OR HP OR COMPAQ I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH THEY ARE LIKE THE THREE PRIME EVILS IN DIABLO EXCEPT THEY ARE COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS. If you must buy from a manuf, buy Dell, or Sony if you feel like getting ripped off.

Thanks for reminding me of how faggy I am. Although frankly, my HP from mid-1999 has held up fairly well.

Always build it yourself if that's at all an option, and it's an option for everyone who isn't quadriplegic.

Indeed, that's definitely what I'm doing - I'm going to purchase the necessary stuff to build a machine myself in celebration of Deus Ex 2's eventual release. Now... do you know of a website that can offer a good crash course in building machines? Or actually... my main concern isn't so much figuring out how to build it - I've got at least one friend who's already done so - but rather what hardware should I be looking at? Assuming that my primary goal is building a machine that would play the "next generation" of games (DX2, Halflife 2, Doom 3) extremely well, one that'll hopefully prove worthwhile for three+ years.
