Counter-Strike is a modern-day realistic team-based combat simulator. It has been the multiplayer FPS of choice for years now. Counter-Strike: Source will be its Source-engine-based successor, and right now they're running a beta of the game where I spend much of my time. What is important to note is that:
1. Most of the players on the beta are hard-core CS veterans/addicts.
2. The beta has released exactly one map: de_dust.
3. This is the first multiplayer Havok-based physics game, I think ever.
Combine these two and the Internet and you get--well, you'll see what you get.
Smoke grenade, thrown just so, lands halfway on the barrel, repeats the 'grenade clink' noise every tick LOUDLY, and never falls. I've now perfected the technique as a T and can safely throw a grenade every round sticking to a barrel in what I call "Operation Enduring Freedom Noise".
Pistol juggling - the one on the left throws the pistols, the one on the right tries to shoot the pistols mid-air (now possible in CS:S). Note chat log where Orry trolls for his next pedophile victim, successfully.
Okay, this takes some explanation. Remember the physics engine is brand-new, meaning that all the objects in the game react a little differently. See that tire leaning against the wall? Yeah, you can body-bump it so it goes rolling down the bridge. Awesome. There are also barrels you can have a lot of fun with.
Mostly, though, you can grenade jump--like the Terrorist shown in mid-flight above. What this entails is you throwing a grenade at your feet. HomeStar (pictured) did this at the bridge, only after seeing a CT approach. This picture was taken on the sixth straight round where he has done so.
Also, Demon (Something), who has also just done the same thing, threw a grenade at the entrance to bridge and positioned himself to propel his lifeless body at the oncoming CTs. That is what the chatting is about. |
