On a slight tangent: Silent Hill 3 has a film grain effect over all the visuals, and it looks great.
So did Silent Hill 2. Once you beat the game there was an option to turn the "noise filter" off. Doing do allowed you to see just how good the graphics really were and dispel the notion that it looked like a PS1 title, but it also made the game noticeably less creep.
How is Silent Hill 3 looking? I really got scared hearing that you'd be playing an angsty teenage girl with psychic powers and and an uzi rather than an everyman with nothing better than a hunting rifle.
I forgot to reply to this when you first asked it, sorry. Silent Hill 3 is Silent Hill 2 plus 1. Having said that, as you can see, I'm fucking sick of it, but fans will get what they expect. Your character's "powers" are related only to the plot, and do not figure into the monster-shooting parts. The uzi isn't really discovered until late in the game, and from the limited time I have seen it in action, it's not that great anyway. The bottom line is that you've got nothing to fear on that front; for the 1+ hour of gameplay I've completed, the main character is still a useless everyman. |
