I can't remember where I saw it (probably from one of the mouthbreathers over at GameFAQs) but there are people out there who think this is the best IE game (and probably the best game ever). Which astounds me, because for years I couldn't rouse the energy to play past the mines. I finally did beat it, using as many cheats as possible to ease the pain, but by that time I'd already played Icewind Dale, Torment, and BG2. For some reason I was convinced that there would be some awesome thing that happened once you got to Baldur's Gate that would justify the accolades, but no, it's just more fetch quests and killing thugs and OMG SPOILERS Sarevok being your brother HUZZAH.
For some reason I'm also reminded of my friend, who got mad at Baldur's Gate 2 when Viconia showed up, because he'd imported his character from BG1 and had killed her in that game. |
