The Iraqi doctors who took care of Pvt. Lynch (that girl who was rescued in the raid) tell a very different story.
Summed up, they say they gave her the absolute best the hospital had to offer, and if the American troops had just politely asked to wheel her down to the door they could have had her without breaking down 12 doors and their only traction bed.
Please note that, like the doctor quoted I don't think this really reflects poorly on the American military so much as I think that it reflects poorly on the whole concept of propaganda. Also, he could still be lying through his teeth, of course, but given that he was (he claims) our man on the inside kind of makes that seem unlikely. Good read, in any case.

"The night they left, a few of the senior medical staff tried to give Jessica back. We carefully moved her out of intensive care and into an ambulance and began to drive to the Americans, who were just one kilometre away. But when the ambulance got within 300 metres, they began to shoot. There wasn't even a chance to tell them `We have Jessica. Take her."
So, there were no white sheets in the hospital? I'm having a seriously hard time believing this report. |
