I don't know if you, SB or Stew are responsible for naming this after the '94 iteration, so I will simply HGLUAHGLUA anything placed in front of me.
NHL '94: initial PC release. Perfection.
NHL '95: same goddamn game as '94
NHL '96: still sprites, can control the goalie (crucial for head-to-head)
NHL '97: polygons, no fucking goalie control
NHL '98: polygons, goalie control
NHL '99: almost positive goalie control is gone again
NHL 2000: I stopped paying attention right here during those 10 minute games where over 100 shots were taken. Some crappy "franchise" mode was eventually added, as is my understanding, as well as "Belarus"
Additionally, Andre Faust of the Flyers had a 390 rating for endurance in NHL '94, and would therefore get better as the game went on. The same programmer later handled the fire resistance code for Baldur's Gate, I think.
