"so we can feel so much closer to the man who gave us CALTROPS" Oh fuck, for how many years have fourth-rate dicksplinters like you tried to get on top of me by kissing admin ass? The only thing Barbie ever gave anyone was a mouth full of come and too many details about his personal life. Veronica hosts Caltrops and ES and Fussbett built it. In the future please try to kiss the right admin ass, at the very least. You incompetent boob.

That's patently false, but I can't fault someone who doesn't know very much about technology (compared to the American McGee's Honda Civic regs). I spent well over a hundred hours getting this place set up for you guys, and I've spent anywhere between two and twenty every week since. V pays for the line, I setup the operating system, security, daemons, chroot jails for them (which is clawing the sides of your head painful in certain cases), and scripts that run most everything.

Now, Entropy Stew writes the code that runs on PHP (which I setup) which runs in Apache (which I setup) which all runs in a chroot jail (which I setup), that displays the graphics Fussbett made. Stew also does most of the work on the database which stores forum content (it seemed better to let him handle something he had familiarity with that I did not).

Frankly ES and I seem to put in roughly equal amounts of time into this site - it's just that when he does something it's a massive update that is immediately noticeable to you guys. When I do something, IF you notice it that means I fucked up - the work I do is more of a steady drumbeat to ES's massive impulses. I really don't talk to Fussbett enough to get a sense of how much he does but the overwhelming bulk of his work (and I've duplicated some of it for that alternate colorscheme, remember?) is a huge initial piece of work followed by regular arrangement work including finally just copying everything over via an encryption-enabled FTP client.

I don't mean to whine or complain here - you need to read this like Spock, Commander Data, or Ben Stein playing a history teacher is reading it out to you - but you should understand there's a shitload of work going into this site that you don't and hopefully never will have a clue about despite this post. For those of you who use Linux and are about to shout that some of what I said here isn't all that difficult - this is nor your operating system and locking down in the manner I do frankly *is* that difficult particularly with one of the most (intentionally) user-hostile operating systems available on the x86. I've used both operating systems enough to understand that I needed to include this proviso.
