I lost control of my car on the way to work and drove off the road into a snow bank. The only casualty was my coke, which died on the floor of my vehicle. *sob* Anyway, some guys from Wisconsin (they're in town to build swimming pools, of all things) stopped by within minutes of my demonstration of mad driving skillzphenominal ineptitude and pulled me out using their truck and a chain. I paid them $40 (the only asked for $20, but I'm generous to people who save my ass). So I was able to get to work, but I left again around noon because it just keeps on snowing. I'd rather be stranded at home than stranded at work.
The brunt of the storm won't hit until tonight or tomorrow morning. I expect that almost nobody in the entire Denver metro area will be going to work tomorrow. It was a mad scramble to get people VPN access and to tell them about OWA and other stuff so they can try to be productive while at home. It'll be interesting.
My brother's going to take some pictures of his area. If this really is a 30 year storm (or worse), they'll be worth seeing. Although the term "30 year storm" seems misleading; didn't we have a 30 storm 20 years ago? Or something? The Blizzard of '83 was pretty amazing. I guess we'll find out how this one stacks up against it. |
