I love it when pro-bushites belittle the French's opposition to invasion because they might be doing it over *huff!* Business Concerns!
Or maybe I would be loving the irony for real if I wasn't neck-deep in bile over politics since 2000.
By alienating the world, the Bush administration ensures that the American empire will collapse far more quickly and that America will never rise to meld with the UN into a true world government. Without a superpower available to run the show (China will be significantly deflated from the collapse of America) the UN will remain a fractured, squabbling morass of infighting for the continuation of its existence - never realizing its goal of true world peace, the end of barbarism, nor world government.
The practical upshot of no world government is that there is no single body which can be corrupted and thereby affect a mankind which has literally nowhere to escape to - if there was a world government and, say, Microsoft or Sony - don't you think they would make influencing and corrupting the world government their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY? There's too much to be gained to do anything else.
Furthermore, an end to barbarism and the final triumph of civilization (world govt) means a true and final end to Darwinism. Kiss it goodbye, folks. Civilization and natural selection are two principles existing on opposite poles - much like liberty and security.
There is no worse nightmare than a clockwork humanity - and that is what world government would eventually result in. A true global realization of Orwell's concerns.
I hate the current administration because I hate stupidity in any form it might take, but I also understand the threats posed by a humanity devoid of barbarism, insanity, and hatred.
I think we can all agree that the Borg rank pretty low as far as ideals to aspire to go, yes?

NO.
What the Bush administration is doing is creating a global climate of extreme stress and rigorous line-toeing in an effort to breed wildly independent and inventive super geniuses for the next generation. Here's where you come in: invent something.
Shit, don't tell me it's NOT WORKING.
What Zseni said.
Also, SB you just hit one of my RAGE AGAINST THE IGNORANT MASSES buttons. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were joking about evolution, but in general I Fucking HATE "Darwinists," social or otherwise, who say "OMGWTF!!! We're not killing the weak! Evolution is grinding to a halt! We'll never become superbeings with 8 fingers, giant throbbing craniums, and psychic powers! OHNOS!!!"
Evolution is simply the haphazard adaptation of a species to changes in their environment caused by the fact that everyone who isn't genetically adapted dies. That's it. Will our eventual genetic progeny be super stong and smart? WE HAVE NO FUCKING WAY OF KNOWING! Is evolution a good thing we must encourage? Maybe, maybe not. In any case, Mother Nature doesn't need a hand.
It pisses me off to no end when some Ayn Rand reading faggot starts talking about cutting programs for the disabled, or worse, Social Darwinism because Dude, like, if we don't do that we won't evolve into the perfect Aryan race.
Thinking genetically, it's to our advantage to have as many people as possible in the gene pool breeding and fucking and coming up with novel gene mutations so that if some species-threatening disaster occurs (Deadly Virus, Famine, Environmental Collapse, Asteroid, Nuke War, whathaveyou) there's a greater chance that a few people will be around with some trait that'd help them survive and continue the existence of our species. They might not be that smart, they might not be that good looking but if we'd prevented their anscestors from breeding in the name of some socially engineered "Ubermensch Evolution" the human race would be wiped out.
Yes yes, slipperyslope trolls, the above argument taken to the extreme would lead to overpopulation blah blah blah. I'm pointing out that the opposite extreme is worse.
One of my biggest frustrations in the world is people taking scientific concepts they only partially understand and turning them into life and death political policy that can not be argued with because it's scientific.
a) I'm a lot more concerned about the first point than the second
b) as you say, overpopulation.
