I'm obviously reaching a bit here, but if there are any Half Life map-transcending comparisons to spatially-focused works of other mediums, then he comes to mind for some of the cells. I've been rethinking my architectural design process as something along the lines of carving out space (volumetric rather than piece-by-piece) within whatever spatial boundaries I define, and so I looked at the maps mostly as clever ways of putting things inside of things. For me, it was trying to be something rather than to say something. I could see Prisoner as a nice tutorial for unlocking the real ultimate power of 3-Dimensional thinking for architects or artists or whomever. But what of cobblers and mailmen, you say?
