Funky IE problem . . . on Microsoft's end? by laudablepuss 03/05/2003, 1:06pm PST
I can't upgrade from IE 5.0 or earlier to IE 6 sp1 via windows update. It fails with a message saying "Oops, failed." and no other details. This used to work, I swear. As recently as a week or two ago IIRC. I can upgrade to IE 5.5 sp2 and then to IE 6, but that's the only way. This happens in NT 4.0 and Windows 2000.

Can anyone else confirm this? So far I haven't found anything about this online. Also, could this have anything to do with the fact that Microsoft can't directly distribute their Microsoft Java Virtual Machine anymore? WTF is up with that? Go Sun and all that, but seriously, that seems a little fucked up.
