I heard this game was the scariest shit on earth from my sister, and I'll admit that it has a few nice touches, but after you figure out their scare formula (about 5 minutes in, for me), there's no scares left, besides the terror of a really unwieldy weapon and a bunch of *really* hard to find items that necessitate waaayyyy too much walking around and looking for shit, to my taste, followed by a lot of shifting cms at a time to try to get the damn swirlies to appear.
Anyways, as I mentioned in another forum, all you Ivy League fratboys might be able to afford to buy consoles and console games, but are there any good scary games for us poverty-stricken students that only own PCs?
The only suggestion I can make that these other FUCKS have sadly omitted is Blood 1. But I say this while suffering from a severe case of arachnophobia. For some inexplicable reason, this game caused my fear to kick into ultra-high gear, whereas all other games with spiders have merely annoyed me with them in a "great, now I get to waste my ammo on these stupid things *yawn*". I think it's because the little green spiders of Blood 1 cause you to see tracers.
Other than that, Blood 1 is simply a very fun (and extraordinarily difficult) FPS, old-skool style, and incidentally the thing that stands out the most for me is its most excellent use of sound (that being one of the few things System Shock 2 does well). I can only imagine someone disliking it if they hate FPSs or, more specifically, hate the idea of a game that blatantly rips off pays homage to action movies. And you'll wind up having a harder time locating it in stores than you will paying for it once you do locate it - it's long since become bargain bin material.
On a side note: do not misinterpret my love for Blood 1 as a recommendation that you get Blood 2. That game is horrific, but for all the wrong reasons. |
