Yeah. Most roms in mame have a naming scheme of the game name if it fits 8.3 filename pattern because it started on DOS. galaga.zip. If it is two words and can'tfit 8.3 - like BurgerTime, it was usually btime.zip. So I assumed Ketsui would be ketsui.zip. Nope. ket.zip.
They adhere to DOS filename name for backwards compatibility.... but demand we get new roms constantly, which breaks compatibility.
For a game like Pac-Man that had different individual rom changes, to save space, they had us start with puckman.zip for the main board, and pacman.zip just has the changes. Okay. So we care about file sizes. Then they had mame emulate 4000 mahjonng versions that nobody cares about, are enormous and end up bloating the rom packs. It should have obviously been its own project.
I won't get into the MiSTer UI problems because there honestly aren't that many and they search their names and I
don't want to get into it. (I wish the process to reboot a system was easier to see and get to BUT the recent change to allow a cold boot by just holding down enter once there was a great change.)
The Neo-Geo thing was my mistake(s) pretty much. |
