This is just first impressions, but it's just a complete improvement across the board. Volgarr is a Rastan-clone at heart, which means you can swing your sword and move at the same time. And yet Volgarr 1's stage design was surprisingly sparse with the combat encounters, putting much stronger emphasis on precision jump puzzles and timing puzzles that actively work against the game's forward momentum mechanics. Volgarr 2, at least in stage 1, inverts that ratio. You're hacking and slashing constantly, and the jump puzzles aren't about waiting between flower monster pellets. Happy so far! |
