It's obvious a lot of that Showtime money went into it (whatever was left after David Lynch made out like a bandit).
Not only is School Spirit much lower production value, it's baffling on the corners they cut. That scene in every "I'm a ghost now" script where the main character goes up to a living person and tries to get their attention? When they can't hear them, they try touching them and whoooooah I pass right through them? School Spirit has that, except she never tries touching anyone. Gives up after they don't respond to talking. Huh? Next scene she walks through basketball practice, wincing at near misses. "Don't worry. They can't hurt you," says another ghost. But all the ball miss and the players walk around her.
How much could that effect possibly cost today? For just 1 or 2 shots in the first episode then they never have to touch it again? It gets outright distracting how much they avoid it. |
