I'm not far into itby it's tolerable so far 02/18/2025, 1:05pm PST
A friend is pushing me to watchalong, telling me "It's just like Twin Peaks!"
Zero Twin Peaks so far.
Opening showing they went Lord of the Flies while stranded in the wilderness and cannibalized one of their own.
Then it splits between their 1996 high school days and "present day" 2021 where COVID never happened.
The present day parts where they're middle aged and dealing with what happened is interesting. The high school parts where it's every teen girl friend group drama are not.
Every woman is witty and wise well beyond their years. Every man is a dunderheaded oaf.

When asked if the group's survival would depend on their gender, Thatcher replied, "I think naturally, especially at such a young age, women are more emotionally intelligent. So to turn into that cannibalistic mindset ... it maybe took them longer just because I think women are smarter than men. But I think that's it. Besides that, there's no difference."
Hope it gets better. I'm just 6 out of 10 tolerating it right now. It's weird seeing it framed as a mystery with all the ads for SEASON 3 WILL THEY ANSWER ALL THE MYSTERIES??? when yeah they went Lord of the Flies and Flight 571 went cannibal to survive. All the feral cannibals wore masks and we're supposed to be watching wondering which one started it? It's like watching Lord of the Flies framed as a fast forward mystery and it's supposed to matter which one threw the first rock at Piggy. Maybe all that reason and accountability in my brain is crowding out the intelligence needed to untie this gordian knot of who took the first bite?
