Hope you really really liked the "eureka" tech tree and golden age mini-quests in Civ 6, because that's the ENTIRE game now.

Fill up that quest bar by completing quests. When it's full, everyone progresses to a new age. ALL your buildings are wiped out (except ones marked "ageless") , wars ended, and you start a new civ. Ocean exploration is hard locked to age 2. VICTORY CONDITIONS are hard locked to age 3.

It's not a time-spanning epic strategy any more. You're just checking off quests like it's some lame MMO at best and live service player engagement at worst. Was this some leftover early design to try turning this into a best of 3 round e-sport?

They're obsessed with making the diplomacy stupider each game. You will now have demands thrown at you that you are forced to accept if you can't pay "influence points" costs. "Cancel your treaty with another civ unless you pay me points." fuck YOU!

Just play Humankind instead. It's not even a great game, but it's obvious they copied Humankind's notes and at least that game has had over 3 years to smooth some things out. They set a new Civ milestone for rushjob with this one. Tons of wonky UI issues and missing info. Civilopedia feels like they had 15 minutes to copypaste from a Notepad document. All that QA time had to be scrapped so they could lay out Day 1 DLC roadmap nickle & diming.

(does every narrator now have to be a goddamn Game of Thrones actor? Sean Bean had at least an established body of work and GoT was relevant in 2016. Why the hell cast Gwendoline Christie for this in 2025? Did she score some leftover tranquilizers from Peter Dinklage's Destiny sessions?)
