Currently, the Canadaian dollar is falling against the US dollar. If that keeps happening, US consumers might not even notice Trump's tarriffs. A 20% tarrif on a price that's 20% lower because of currency conversion is a wash. Meanwhile, more than 75% of Canadian exports go to the US. Only 17% of US exports go to Canada. This makes sense. Canada is essentially a thin strip of populated land on the US's northern border, and a big wilderness where nobody lives. It's very obvious who the loser is going to be here. It's like if the state of Massachusetts decided to get in a trade war with the US. Who will come out ahead there, gee I wonder! Trudeau is an incredible idiot though, so dumb he would drown looking up in a rainstorm. Bad times ahead for Canadians. Sad! |
