With a heavy heart I must acknowledge I've finally "beaten" Galak-Z by Mischief Maker Yesterday, 10:19pm PST

Galak-Z has been an indie near and dear to my heart for years. I've never played a game that better captured the feel of the Saturday Morning Cartoon Anime shows I watched as a little kid. But at the same time the Galak-Z has some of the best and most sophisticated controls in any roguelite I've handled both in ship and mech mode. But at the same time it has a unique stealth system where you utilize newtonian momentum to sneak up on enemies silently. And the enemy AI is next-level, never getting stuck on walls and navigating twisting randomly generated cave corridors like it's nothing, but still reacting to stimuli believably. Just a wonderful game overall.

But I've finally beaten the highest difficulty twice in a row, and I didn't even break a sweat a second time. I don't like the endless void mode because for some stupid reason the camera is constantly slowly spinning. I don't get sick in Descent, but Galak-Z void mode makes me queasy.

So it's time to retire this game from its permanent space on my hard drive and I'm very unhappy about that because no modern game comes close. Power of Ten? Nova Drift? Fine games, but not nearly the complete artistic and design masterpiece that Galak-Z was.
