This was great.
My only complaint was that it might have been a little too easy. Or maybe I just stumbled upon an optimal ship design: cram in as many fixed guns as possible, and mount them all pointed to one side so you can circle-strafe with a broadside. Add a few other defensive weapons as you like and as they become unlocked.
Still, tho, this is one of my favorite custom ship design systems I've played. I like the heat and adjacent bulkhead systems.
The campaign was a perfect length—just long enough so you're working your way through the tech trees, without ever hitting a slog where you've pretty much got it figured out.
The exploration is a cool mix of wormholes and jump gates, plus the option to just take a chance on heading out into open space to see what you can find. Something like this is how Starfield should have done space travel
Also, it looks amazing.
