This movie has the opposite problem of netflix Bebop. by Oooooo! 08/13/2024, 10:07am PDT Bebop visual style is supposed to be 80% vibrant colors 20% grime. The typical future dystopia of shinier gadgets with the inescapable reality of filth and poverty. The awful netflix show made it the other way around. Everything is also way too dark and muted to the point I joked to a friend that Zack Snyder must have made it. Borderlands is a future dystopia post apocalyptic movie that should be 80% grime, 20% vibrant colors, abrand new shiny settlement that was abandoned by its corporate sponsors and left to rot. Instead they made it the other way around. And THIS is the one that Snyder made! It's like he wanted to mimic the cel shaded look of the game, even though that doesn't work with love action, and stupidedly decided to make it resemble a neon paint mixer explosion like it was Zom100. Half in the Bag joked that the miscasting extended to the set designer. So Snyder got the Downton Abbey set designer who had no clue how to do post apocalyptic so they just took a clean set and emptied two garbage cans on it. Same with the costumes. It looks like one of those low budget medieval fantasy movies where everyone should be dirty, but the clothes all look fresh off the rack because no one wants to lose the deposit on their renn faire rental costumes.
