I watched part of the first season a few years ago by blackwater 07/17/2024, 1:09pm PDT
Even though the TV adaptation came out recently, The Boys was written at the tail end of the George W. Bush presidency and has the vibe of those years. You'll be introduced to "edgy" ideas like... what if homeland security... isn't really on our side?!? What if a superhero... sexually harrassed somebody?!? and the media covered it up. Yes, in the era of #MeToo, the writers' room thinks this is a top issue. There's a general feeling of staleness and NPC-ness about the whole affair.

There were occassional funny moments here and there. Like I enjoyed their parody of Superman from time to time. But it's overall pretty boring and unfunny.
