Did the German author figure he could get away with it pre-internet?
An isolated boy runs upstairs to discover an object that brings him to another world.
The world is dying and he must reach a princess in a high up castle to ask how to fix it.
He travels through a swamp, encounters a being telling him to "fuck it, don't care". Almost sinks into swamp, is rescued by a large dog.
Finds out the princess just needed some trivial piece of input from the boy in order to reboot the destroyed world.
Neverending Story wasn't chock full of Roberta Williams puns, so it has that going for it. On the other hand, Phantom Tollbooth didn't gas 6 million Jews. Can we get an impartial Gaza refugee to referee (refereegee?) this?
