Bah! The higher difficulty levels suck and I'm done with them! by Mischief Maker 11/08/2023, 6:24am PST I liked that in higher difficulties money is tighter, so you really need to get a decent economy running ASAP or risk stalling out. But once you're past that initial hump you'll be just as flush as on "reasonable" difficulty. The thing I hate about higher difficulties is they also change the planet arrangement so fewer connections are available. It just feels like on higher difficulties there's a "right" arrangement of trading partners and if you don't guess right in the earlygame, your run is boned. That just sucks all the fun out of the game for me. I'm still getting consistent 5-6 star runs, but it's no longer as delightful as the game on "reasonable." However, I just learned that in addition to optional quirks in galaxy generation, you can change a "standard sector" into one with special rules from finished campaign missions, so you can generate a regular game with Space-Time rifts, for example. That will be better difficulty than the crappy planet distribution of higher difficulties.
