Pretty interesting infographic
Surprising (to me):
* Consoles were a respectably big business even back in the 70s, pretty much half as big as the arcades were, revenue-wise. I would have expected their share to be smaller back then.
* Since the 90s, the PC gaming market has always been comparable to the console one. In fact, it was bigger as of 2020.
* Mobile is crushing everything, bigger than the PC and console markets combined.
* "Handheld" is smaller than I would have expected. I wonder if they're putting the Switch and Nintendo DS in there, or in a different category like Console?
Would be cool if someone did this by company, so we could see Commodore and Sega crash and burn, and Sony fight with MS. |
