Cyberpunk Edgerunners is everything Netflix's Castlevania wasn't. by Mischief Maker 06/26/2023, 8:31pm PDT
The Castlevania anime seemed violently allergic to its own concept as a videogame adaptation, Cyberpunk edgerunners revels in it.

All the characters in the show have the HUD from the game, scenes take place in recognizable locations from the game, major characters from the game play key roles. Whereas Castlevania could barely muster the energy to have one giant gear room, one fight scene using actual Castlevania music, and the rest is all lore massively deviating from the game (Dracula's minions are all were-bats that are created by banging a magic hammer next to a corpse?).

And the Cyberpunk characters are all likeable with real chemisty and character growth while the Castlevania cast are all unlikeable douchebags, but the Belmont and the chick hook up out of sheer plot necessity fiat.

And Cyberpunk has its requisite earworm song, another Netflix staple Castlevania lacked:

Pretty good for Netflix!
