Almost no individual scene is particularly accurate. Lines are given to different people than who spoke em, or taken out of the context they were said and put in different ones. Weird stuff happens. People say shit and are jerks to each other in a way that's totally bananas and never happened.
Some of the most egregiously stupid things in the movie:
* Does Mission Control really tell Launch Control "go for launch"? I bet Launch Control would be like, "gee thanks for your input, Houston".
* Fredo getting sick right after launch, and the weird implication that he didn't have a UTI at the end. He totally had a UTI from not drinking enough water.
* The Apollo 13 crew yelling at each other
* The Mission Control guys yelling at each other
* The Olympics of the Mind-esque problem of the CO2 filters. This was not a big deal, at all. The guy who made them knew it would be a problem and worked out a solution in the car on the way to his office, then tried it out and told Houston.
* It wasn't a shocking crazy idea to pull power from the LEM battery. They had actually done this when the initial crisis happened and they were getting the guys out of Odyssey. Also I don't think Ken had anything to do with figuring any of this out.
* Ed Harris yelling about the re-entry procedure. The capcom guy did say at one point that he'd get back to the crew with the procedure, but as soon as the words were out of his mouth the guys were coming in with the copies of the fucking procedure.
And all the weird dialogue about how if Swigert fucks this up we don't have a mission or skepticism about the chances of the crew coming back. Like these guys would ever say that. It just seems screwy |
