| I think that’s generous given he stopped drawing in 2016 and hit his absolute lowest in 2010. His peak was almost 20 years ago. He was legitimately funny but what made his work good and what he wants to do are completely unaligned. Imagine wanting to see Ray talk to Winnie the Pooh and not to tell him he did so much cocaine that his nipples fell off.
But Ondtad seems himself as a peer of, like, PG Wodehouse and turns his nose up at Jim Davis, which is galling as Garfield is objectively a more groundbreaking, funny strip, and consistent over the years. |
