Worth it on sale, but I swear it feels like it just needs 5-10 more rounds before the forced ending. Every. Damn. Game.
Or at least have some sort of Conquest/Elimination/Last-Man-Standing game mode where you play until you're the only nation left. Or an option in custom game settings to alter the number of rounds.
Of course, that wouldn't solve the problem because there's no way to actually destroy your opponents. All political/military actions--even ones marked 'warfare'--are just event cards where the winner gets some benefit, and you can even occasionally destroy a production facility, but that just means your opponent has to pay to spawn a new pop and assign them to the former production site.
Every time I get the "This is your last turn" warning I only need FIVE MORE FUCKING TURNS to utterly break my opponent, but I don't get that option.
Okay, yes, I get it. It's a board game adaptation. But it's ALSO a pretty well designed Civlike and I can't help but wish it was just a little more Civvy.
But it's still fun, it's well-designed, and it was probably worth the $9.99 I paid in the app store. Even better at $7.99. Maybe not $15 unless you're the type who loves running a scenario over and over until you attain perfection. |
