From what I can remember, the area I made the turn was maaaaybe a little gravely. I know I had new tires, but aren't they supposed to be extra grippy?

I think I just turned slowly. I mean, it was a bright, summer day when it happened.

I remember riding with a friend after the accident and he just accelerated through everything. In fact, he went faster through turns. I recall meeting him and our girlfriends for lunch, having a single beer, getting on the bike that day and not being afraid, but truly believing that I was in control of the machine. I needed the single drink to shut off my brain. I don't have a motorcycle any longer, but if I did I would want to ride with that sort of purpose all the time. I miss it a lot in the fall. Some of my favorite experiences on it was when the temperatures were getting colder, the air was crisp, I was driving around from my house to some area haunted house, the leaves were changing and falling. Truly a feeling of being "free."
