I think the biggest reason I am struggling with trying to fix this is because of how enraged I get at the start. "Megabites." You stupid assholes. The "megabit" isn't a thing, it is a marketing term to make a number "bigger". I am getting 23 "megabits" per second. Well, that's 2 megabytes per second and it doesn't matter that I'm on satellite, this is not acceptable. It's never going to be great but this is awful.
Things I don't understand:
- Why is Netflix flawless and nothing else?
- Windows is constantly downloading updates, and so is the GeForce "experience." I guess I can uninstall the GeForce "experience."
- But what is using the bandwidth in my house?
We've got some internet of things devices at home, but it's no better on the one wired connection in the house when I turn off all WiFi.
I can't make any sense out of Wireshark. I guess if I needed to do individual packet inspection? It's so frustrating.
But this problem now has my attention and I am going to solve it. Maybe this will be helpful to others. (We got on the list for StarLink, and it can't be worse than this.)
