| There are a lot of cover songs I'm quite fond of myself. To me, there are two criteria by which a good cover song is to be judged. 1.) That is significantly varies from the original 2.) That it not vary too much from the original. The second is not as important as the first. Anyway, one of my favorite cover songs from an album of excellent cover songs is Cat Power's "Satisfaction". The Stones infused the song with a sort of upbeat bluesiness that makes you beleive they are keeping a good face on the feelings described in the song. Chan Marshall turns it into sko heart javelin--a song about longing and an unseen schism. She also manages to turn the emotional content of lyrics 180 with her amazing vocal delivery. I'm going to go listen to it 10 or 15 times in a row as I sometimes do...... | ||||
