Why does Steam make it fucking impossible to link and share images? You have to go through like 19 clicks to get to some arcane URL that doesn't look like it will inline an image.
Clicking those images will (should) open up another tab with a full-size version. Believe it or not, the jpg compression makes it look less detailed.
Best looking game I've ever played. I was lucky enough to score an RTX 3080 and upgrade my CPU earlier this year after an eternity, and the game runs buttery smooth with most of the settings maxed out (I didn't try to max things like setting image quality to 2x or whatever). If you're a pleb with lesser hardware and you played the RE2 remake, I imagine it will perform similarly. Maybe slightly worse because this probably has more detail, but it should be close.
Can we talk about Capcom setting the gold standard for options menus for years now? Not only providing brief explanations of what each option does, but actually attempting to show you a little picture so you can SEE what the result is. I mean, what normal person is going to know what "ambient occlusion" means without a visual reference?
If you're using headphones, try turning virtual surround on in the audio options. It seems to make a noticeable difference. It's been 20 years since I've heard A3D so I can't compare it, but it sounds good.
The game isn't as slow and atmospheric as RE7, it has RE4 vibes so far and is more action-oriented. The new merchant even makes reference to the RE4 merchant. This series always seemed heavily tailored to what's popular with Western audiences, so this time around it's Twilight and....Coraline? Tim Burton? 90 minutes in and it's kind of weird as shit, but in a good way. So far so good, but admittedly it's kind of cutscene and scripted event heavy.
There's a kind of trend in video game acting and writing that shows up in this game. I don't know if it's poor directing or acting or both, but whenever there's a shocking and dramatic moment, the performances are really muted and understated. Like the actors are afraid of yelling in a recording booth, like it'll be too loud into the mic. For example, if someone you love is murdered right in front of you, do you mildly gasp and whimper, "N-no!" Or do you FREAK THE FUCK OUT AAAAUGH and start panicking. You know, do something like show an actual human emotion.
Second, what's with characters in video games always addressing family with such formality? Nobody says "dad" or "mom" or calls their siblings by their name like normal people, it's always father, mother, brother/bro, sister/sis, etc.
