+ No more suffering through Thomas Jane, by far the weakest acting link on the show.
-- We are still stuck with Steven Straight, who gets to be the designated protagonist and leader despite being the least qualified of the four. Spends so much time with "crying constipation face" that he could have been played by Josh Hartnett.
- The resolution of the Ceres plot was kind of silly
+ The brinkmanship between Earth and Mars was interesting. Quality scenes of the confrontations between their navies and nuke satellites.
- The Ganymede station inexplicable self-destructing and evacuation was quite silly
+ The evil UN security advisor feeling remorse and deciding to turn himself in was true to the show's avoidance of black & white.
--- Which is immediately undone when UN Battleaxe lady just trusts him to turn himself in, leaves the planet for an obvious trap meeting with evil Asian CEO, and shock it turns out to be a trap and the advisor heel turns back into a villain. Hard to take any future tension seriously when the characters act this stupid.
----- The Martian marine defector and the UN bodyguard scenes turning into a bad buddy cop comedy.
I stopped watching when Asian CEO also had a change of heart before going right back to 1D villain because an alien infected kid eviscerated a nurse?
Does it get better after that? (even though bad Expanse is still better than Battlestar Galactica at its best) |
